GENTLE CLEANSING WASHES
Sulfate-free shampoo has gained popularity among those with African or coily hair due to its gentle yet effective cleansing properties that cater specifically to the needs of this hair type. Here’s why sulfate-free shampoo is highly beneficial:
Gentle Cleansing
African or coily hair tends to be more delicate and prone to dryness because the natural oils produced by the scalp have a harder time traveling down the twists and turns of the hair shaft. Sulfate-free shampoos clean the hair without stripping away these essential oils, which helps maintain moisture levels and prevents excessive dryness. This gentler approach to cleansing is crucial for retaining the natural hydration needed to keep hair healthy and manageable.
Reduces Frizz and Breakage
Coily hair is prone to frizz due to its structure, which can be exacerbated by harsh sulfates found in traditional shampoos. Sulfate-free formulas help to reduce frizz by keeping the hair cuticle smoother and less prone to catching on itself. This smoother cuticle also reduces the likelihood of breakage, which is a common concern for those with tightly coiled hair textures.
Preserves Natural Oils
The natural oils produced by the scalp are essential for maintaining hair health and promoting growth. Sulfate-free shampoos are formulated to cleanse effectively while preserving these natural oils. This is especially beneficial for African hair types, as it helps to keep the hair moisturized and less prone to dryness, brittleness, and breakage.
Maintains Color and Texture
Many sulfate-free shampoos are also free from harsh chemicals and additives that can strip away hair color or alter its natural texture. This is particularly advantageous for those who color their hair or prefer to maintain their natural curl pattern without interference from drying agents.
Mild and Non-Irritating
Sulfate-free shampoos are generally milder and less likely to cause scalp irritation or allergic reactions, making them suitable for sensitive skin and scalps. This can alleviate issues such as itching or inflammation that may arise from using harsher cleansers.

Directions for use
After washing your hair, gently squeeze out excess water to leave it damp but not dripping.
Dispense an adequate amount of the detangling conditioner into your hands. Apply the conditioner starting from the mid-lengths to the ends of your hair, where it tends to be driest and most prone to tangles.
Use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb to evenly distribute the conditioner through your hair. Focus on areas that are particularly tangled or dry.
Allow the conditioner to sit in your hair for 3-5 minutes to let the nourishing ingredients penetrate and soften the hair.
Rinse your hair thoroughly with cool or lukewarm water until all conditioner is washed out. Ensure no residue is left behind to avoid build-up.
Gently towel-dry your hair by patting it, not rubbing, to reduce frizz and breakage.
